Friday, December 13, 8:30 AM-12:30 PM.
Meet at the Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark.
On Brown Bag days, we prepare 100-150 hearty, healthy brown bag lunches and kettles of nourishing hot soup. Then we head out to distribute the meals to folks under the bridges, on street corners, huddled in doorways, and in downtown parks.
Volunteers are welcome! Just let us know if you can lend a hand. All you need is a caring heart and a few hours to share. If you can’t help on Brown Bag Day, you can still help the program. NEEDED: Home-baked cookies, brownies, and muffins, and homemade soups and *fresh apple- or pear-sauce! We welcome your support. The more food and volunteers we have, the more people we can serve that day.
DONATE! Click here to give. $10 provides 5 hearty meals prepared with care and shared with friendship. $50 feeds 25 people! Living Earth is not supported by corporate donors or foundations, so your gift makes a huge difference. Whether you give funds or prepare home-baked treats, your donation helps feed people.
Every Brown Bag lunch provides a good meal, with a hearty deli-style sandwich, fruit, a hardboiled egg, cookies, other munchies. In cooler weather, we also serve up hot homemade soups.
Other ways to help: You can help by soliciting food donations or gift cards from grocers where you shop. Ask friends or local businesses to donate in support this project. Any way you can help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Homeless folks face hunger daily, and low-income people usually have very little to eat. People without homes or jobs have little guarantee of a “next” meal. And working folks often skip meals so their kids can have food. Everyone deserves a decent meal, and while our program is small, every lunch we make makes a difference for someone.
