Welcome! And thank you for making a gift to Living Earth in any amount you choose. Contributions are tax-deductible, and we deeply appreciate your support. Questions? Call 503-358-5204 or email us.
If you would like to designate an online gift to a specific program, post to let us know how to direct your gift (Brown Bags, Living/Dying programs, peace and environmental programs). We love putting your contributions to work for the programs and values that matter to you!
For example, to support our Brown Bag Project, $25 feeds 12 people, or $50 feeds 25, providing a freshly prepared meal, delivered with care and dignity to anyone on the streets who is hungry, regardless of appearance or income. (Hunger and food insecurity also affect low-wage workers, who often run out of money for food between paychecks, or skip meals so their children can eat.)
Living Earth is an all-volunteer group, a 501 (c)(3) social benefit, non-profit organization. See below for more information about our programs, our budget, and how contributions are used.
It’s also easy to give by check or Visa/MasterCard, by mail or phone. Enclose our Donation form to designate how you would like to direct the use of your gift. Complete the form and mail it with your check or Visa/MasterCard info to:

Thanks for being part of Living Earth!
As an all-volunteer non-profit organization, Living Earth functions on a very modest, well-focused budget, without a bricks-and-mortar office. Our basic ongoing expenses include the following: facility rentals for regular community gatherings; print and IT expenses for member communications and public outreach; program support IT tools and resources; professional services (accounting, consulting, etc.); and general office supplies and materials. For 2013, our basic operating overhead runs approximately $350 each month.
Programs: In addition to occasional presentations, workshops, and retreats, Living Earth maintains two ongoing Community Programs and two Compassionate Action projects.
Our weekly meditation Satsang/Dharma Circle and monthly Movie Night Potluck invite us to explore spiritual practice and deepen our shared intention of cultivating peace, justice, beauty and balance in our lives and in the world.
Our Brown Bags and Winter Warming Projects (formerly called “Hats & Scarves”) put our compassion into action for the greater community. In 2013, the Brown Bag Project costs approximately $250 to provide 125-150 hearty meals on each service day — once or twice a month, depending on funds. With adequate support, we’d love to expand the program. In fall and winter, our Winter Warming Project expenses run less than $500, October through February. Each season, hundreds of new, handcrafted items are donated by mostly-anonymous community members to be distributed to people of all ages in need. As of February 2013, after five winter seasons, we have distributed more than 3,200 brand new, home-made hats, scarves, shawls, blankets, booties, and other items to help people of all ages in our community stay warm in winter.
Event & Program Income:
Living Earth community events are offered for modest fees or by donation, always with the option of a self-determined sliding scale for anyone short of funds. Some activities are free of charge. Event and program revenues that exceed actual costs are directed to general support for our ongoing operations and to underwrite sliding scale and scholarship opportunities.
More detailed financial info can be found annually on our IRS 990 form, which is posted annually at www.Guidestar.org.
