Donate to Living Earth

generosity-bgWelcome! Click here now  to support Living Earth. Using  PayPal or Visa/MasterCard donation, you aew free to give any amount that works for you. (A minimum of $10 is appreciated, since we pay a fee on these transactions.)

To support the Brown Bag Project, each full meal costs just over $2. For example, $25 would provide a hearty lunch for 12 people, freshly, caringly prepared, and delivered with dignity, to anyone who is hungry, regardless of income. (Low wage earners often run out of money for food between paychecks, and parents sometimes skip meals so their children can eat.)  After you give, call, post, or visit us on FaceBook to let us know if you want your donation designated in this way.

Living Earth is an all-volunteer organization, and a 501 (c)(3) social benefit, non-profit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible, and we count on your support. Information about our programs, our budget, and how your money is used can be found below.

Budget overview:
As an all-volunteer non-profit organization, Living Earth functions on a modest, well-focused budget, without a bricks-and-mortar office. Our basic ongoing expenses include facility rentals for regular community gatherings; member communications and public outreach; IT tools and resources; professional services (accounting, consulting, etc.); and general office supplies and materials. Our basic operating overhead runs less than $350 each month.

Programs: We have two ongoing Compassionate Action projects: Brown Bags, and Hats & Scarves. In 2013, the Brown Bag Project costs approximately $200 to provide hearty meals for 100-125 people on each service day. With adequate support, we’d love to expand the program. Each fall and winter, our Hats & Scarves Project incurs total expenses of less than $500. Each season, hundreds of handcrafted new items donated by volunteers are distributed to people of all ages in need. As of February 2013, after five winter seasons, this program has distributed more than 3,200 brand new, hand-made hats, scarves, shawls, blankets, and other items to help people in our community stay warm in winter.

Event & Program Income:
Living Earth’s community events are offered for modest fees or suggested donations, always with the option of a self-determined sliding scale for anyone short of funds. Some activities are free of charge. Event and program revenues exceeding actual costs provide general support for our ongoing operations and help to underwrite sliding scale and scholarship opportunities.

More detailed financial info can be found annually on our IRS 990 form, which is posted each year at www.Guidestar.org.
